Injury Resources

A large volume of information on injury control and prevention is available on the internet. A series of links to helpful web pages are provided below. The Colorado Injury Control Research Center has not evaluated the following materials and in no way endorses these materials. The sole purpose is to provide a comprehensive list of additional on-line injury information. 

Interactive Injury Mapping
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, division of National Injury Prevention and Control provides an interactive mapping system to assess injury-related mortality rates in different geographical regions. Using Injury Maps, county and state-level maps of age adjusted mortality rates can be created. The Colorado Department of Health and Environment also maintains a web-based interactive injury mapping system for injuries in Colorado, the Colorado Health Information Dataset (CoHID). Injury Control Research Centers
The Colorado Injury Control Research Center is a member of the National Association of Injury Control Research Centers funded by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The websites of affiliate Centers are listed alphabetically.

Public Health Service Region VIII State Health Departments
Injury prevention is a priority within state health departments. Representatives from each program have formed an association whose mission is to "promote, sustain and enhance the ability of state and territorial public health departments to reduce death and disability associated with injuries.

Poison Control Centers 
Poison is defined as "any product or substance that can harm someone if it is used in the wrong way, by the wrong person, or in the wrong amount." The following are web links to the American Association of Poison Control Centers and the Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Center. These websites contain pertinent information regarding poisons and poisonings and provide prevention resources available for free.

The Safe States Alliance
A non-profit organization and professional association whose mission is to serve as the national voice in support of state and local injury and violence prevention professionals engaged in building a safer, healthier America.
